Homeward Gaze

The shadow lengthens, time drags
dreary, bleached, heart sputters and lags.
Crouched in his chair, sadness weeps
forlorn and bitter, looking to the east.
Lonesome and weary, darkness his blanket
alien and wary, solitude his penchant.
Through glass shutters, he gazes blankly
down cold cheeks, roll tears silently
